Ryan Hughes is a executive leader, speaker, motivator, entrepreneur, and technologist. As one of the earliest adopters, he has amassed almost 15 years of expertise with public cloud enablement and is credited with leading implementations for enterprises and governments around the globe.

In his current role as VP of Cloud Infrastructure Solutions at Nationwide, Ryan assembled a net-new team engineers that delivered an all infrastructure-as-code platform on top of AWS in a regulated industry… in less than 12 months. To-date over 300 applications are running in Production on the platform, including many core business systems.

Prior, Ryan held the position of Global Executive Consultant at AWS where he provided trusted advisory to Fortune 500 executives along their cloud journey. In addition, Ryan has led cloud enablement efforts in the Federal, State, & Local Government sectors of Unisys and Dewberry; helping them compete and win award under the first IDIQ Cloud Contract of it’s kind (WSCA/NASPO Cloud Services, circa 2009)

Early in his career, after spending formative years at Esri, he co-founded Skygone and launched “thegismarketplace.com”, becoming first company to take advantage of cloud computing to offer complex geospatial mapping systems (GIS) as an on-demand marketplace service. For this innovation, Ryan was awarded the “Ziff Davis Enterprise - Cloud Enabler of the Year” in 2011.
